We have established a new technical working group called “Chemical Analytics of Feedstocks” with the goal of strengthening the integrity of certified supply chains through scientifically sound analytical tools.

Objective of the Working Group

The group’s main goal is to characterise high-risk feedstocks, starting with Used Cooking Oil (UCO) and potentially extending to other materials. Building on this characterisation, the group will work towards:

  • Developing analytical approaches to detect characteristics of these feedstocks
  • Embedding these methods into ISCC’s integrity processes
  • Improving traceability in certification processes

Participants and Structure

The working group brings together technical experts from across the value chain, including:

  • Academia and research institutions
  • Certification Bodies
  • Providers of analytical testing services

The kick-off meeting took place on 6 August 2025, and the next meeting is scheduled for the first week of September.

Collaborative Focus

This working group functions as a collaborative platform, with a strong focus on technical discussion in its initial phase. The aim is to achieve broad acceptance of any potential outcomes by building them on a solid scientific basis and stakeholder input foundation. However, as this is an exploratory process, it remains open whether concrete solutions will emerge.

Stakeholders with relevant technical expertise are warmly invited to participate and contribute. We especially welcome those who can assist in developing analytical methods that improve the reliability of sustainability certification.*

We look forward to engaging with dedicated experts and jointly advancing robust and credible solutions for feedstock verification.

*Please note that ISCC reserves the right to decline participation requests that do not align with the technical focus and objectives of the group. We therefore kindly encourage expressions of interest from individuals or organisations whose profile matches the intended scope.
